27th October | Exchange

Back in February, we were all excited to see Babeheaven’s show, however they unfortunately had to cancel their string of UK tour dates at the start of the year and there wasn’t much explanation online. During this time Babeheaven have released a new EP – so no complaints here, especially because they’re back at Exchange as well.

Cementing their sound in atmospheric synth soundscapes, along with frontwoman Nancy Andersen’s silvery voice, Babeheaven delicately combine these elements to create hazy lo-fi tunes. Their latest musical endeavours are rooted with lush vocals, swirly and atmospheric synth runs and their trademark slow sway beats. Babeheaven paint cinematic scenes and it’s done so delicately, often dealing with heavy subjects such as loss. They’ve supported the likes of Loyle Carner as well as selling out shows in their home town, Babeheaven have gone from playing The Galli, to Crofters and now Exchange.

Released only a few weeks ago, Suspended Animation is a peek into the Babeheaven soundsphere, observational and accessible lyrics, along with woozy reverb which packs a punch. The influence of shoegaze amongst the indie genre can come across as a bit samey, but Babeheaven are far from that cliché. Dramatic and swirling choruses are lyrically simple, yet delivered with such might.

Babeheaven will be performing at Exchange this Sunday. Surely it’ll be the hottest thing you’ll ever witness on a Sunday night.
