Colston Hall’s main hall has been forced to close due to debris falling from the ceiling, meaning a number of upcoming gigs have been moved to the O2 Academy next door – and all because of a baby seagull.

Last Friday, bits of the ceiling were seen to have fallen down in the main hall in Colston Hall, causing Bristol City Council and Bristol Music Trust to launch an investigation. There is a worry that some of the undisturbed and safely contained asbestos that is in the old building could have been exposed.

Sarah Robertson, communications and special project director at Colston Hall, said that a baby seagull got lodged in the roof, which is the reason the roof started falling down.

And you thought them pooing on you was the worst damage they could do…

The gigs that will be moved are: Mercury Rev (July 13), The Shires & Ward Thomas (July 14), Martha Wainwright and Angaleena Presley (July 15), Nick Lowe, Paul Carrack & Andy Fairweather Low (July 16) and Mavis Staples (July 17).

Forgive all baby seagulls by watching one grow up below.
