Beats, Breaks & Bass | February

Beats, Breaks & Bass brings an hour of new electronic based music to BBC Radio Bristol. Thanks to everyone who has been with us, listened and shared the show, celebrating this huge moment for #TripleB and 808 music in the city.

With a new show every 30days via the BBC iPlayer, plus a load of goodies in between as we count down to the next reload; such as an exclusive guest mix from Monkey Wrench, our 30day recap via our youtube page, my regular selections here at BLM and much more.

Check out all of the tracks in this short brief:

Joker – Joker Scene 2 (Neon City)

Gotham has The Bat, The Mushroom Kingdom has Mario. Bristol has a number of musical vigilantes but right now none as prolific as Joker. The digital mystro has struck again with his long awaited sophomore album – ‘The Mainframe’.

After previewing the complete project in all its glory at The Crofter’s Rights earlier this month to a heaving dance-floor, loaded with long time fans, new flocks of inquisitive students and VIP’s from various levels of the musical spectrum. Bristol and the world was about ready for this uncompromising second level.

S-Type x Yung Gud

A fresh drop from one of my favourite UK labels the Luckyme, always a treat!

S-type’s SV8 is is out now with featuring Lunice, Innke and Yung Gud (who you might have caught at the colston hall in February). I see these guys as massive tastemakers, putting the power back in the producers hand, just as it once was.

Kahn and Neek are often referred to when discussing the purest and most direct window to true Bristol bass music and this claim stands firm with this new one. Produced by Kahn and swelling with rough and aggressive bliss abattoir is shadow-man dark.

SYZ – Stratosphere

This charmer by Brighton raised, Bristol based SYZ is a patient and experimental gem. Tranquil, wavey vibes of the highest degree, forthcoming on Cream Collective.
