Let’s take a look at some of our favourite sounds this month:
Colide is one of two names that DJ Krust has recommended via the good folks at Dbs Music College. Producing a Bristol based trap sound which is famed amongst local producers like Daffy, Maxx Baer and more. Featuring frequent collaborator Fragmentary, this track features a blend of interests, Dubstep and Hip-hop, structures are unmistakeable, added to the current boom of instrumental beats easily one of my favourite local track this month. With only a few tracks up on soundcloud so far I can’t wait to hear more.
Having known Version for a good while now I know as a producer the guy is as hard working as it gets with the talent to match. Therefore when he sent me his forthcoming release ‘Prokofiev’ via Hangar Records I was itching to play it. It’s a massive track that completely shut down BBC Introducing last month. If you’re unfamiliar with the Gloucestershire bass sound here’s a perfect way to get to know.
One of the most fruitful and left field songs that I have played on the show since SOPHIE’s Bipp. With a retro swing party vibe Bristol duo Dephicit are deep in a style that I think has been marginalised in the big leagues. However their level of production and energy which makes up this track simply cannot be denied. Definetly one of those tracks which can wake up a dance floor.
A trio that have been seriously pushing the levels of Bristol’s up and coming talent. There gritty style of house shares that we’ll known watermark that comes with bristol bass music however their collection of tracks has reached an unmistakable stance raising them far above any common denominator.
