It’s fair to say that if you were to ask many solo female singer song writers to name some of their influences then a lot would reference Beth Orton. She has been musically active since the early nineties and despite her various seasons of character over that time; she maintains a gentle allure based around the simplicity and subtly of her song writing which always adds buoyancy to your disposition.

There is a good chance, over the years, that you will have heard her chiming away on a film score as she does on Vanilla Sky among numerous others. Throughout her career she has collaborated with the likes of Ben Harper and Elliott Smith but is perhaps best known for her ‘folktronica’ days where she frequently joined forces with William Orbit and The Chemical brothers. She’s currently on tour to promote her first album in four years which was released in May called Kidsticks.

Beth Orton plays Anson Rooms on 29th September. Watch her video for ‘Moon’ below.
