Brian Jonestown Massacre | Preview

This summer sees the UK return of the shoegazing-turned-neo-psychedelic Brian Jonestown Massacre – the San Franciscan band born kicking and screaming in 1988 with a tumultuous catalogue of controversial live performances, fights and political statements.

Spanning everything from acid, blues and psych rock to electronica, experimental and anti-folk (this one could just refer to singer Anton Newcombe’s attitude towards most other humans), the BJM may have courted notoriety but their delinquent reputation has never managed to completely overshadow what has been a prolific output over the years, and the sound is still of the underground.

While die-hard fans will be hoping to sample soundbytes from the 14th studio album ‘Revelation’, it’s fair to speculate that some will simply be standing in line to see what the opinionated and ever-entertaining Newcombe says next, ready to Take It From The Man!

Expect… No, don’t expect anything. Just come prepared, and hope to come away unscathed. Just kidding, he’s much calmer these days…

The Brian Jonestown Massacre play the Anson Rooms on 3 July. ‘Revelation’ is released on 19 May.
