Two of the most established independent venues in Bristol are bringing a raucous, reckless festival full of bands, boats and beers (the fourth ‘B’ being Bristol at its most Bristol) to Old Market in the form of Bristol’s Booze Cruise Festival. The Exchange and the Stag & Hounds are sharing the rambunctious roster, with scrappy Michigan rockers Bong Mountain (not to be confused with the world famous Bong Mountain orchestra), and the fuzzy lo-fi Cultdreams (FKA Kamikazi Girls) bringing their bolshy bite as headliners. The festival will take place over the May 25th weekend, laying out three days of gloriously scrappy shoegaze carnage to two of Bristol’s nearest and dearest venues.
Featuring an international roster that includes Chicago’s Kali Masi and Guerilla Poubelle from across the channel, Bristol’s Booze Cruise Festival boasts fifty bands from nine countries, and is not for the faint of heart. Prominent among the lush local acts on the lineup is folk/punk heavyweight Oxygen Thief, signed to Xtra Mile Recordings (Frank Turner; Beans on Toast; To Kill A King). Oxygen Thief, who is known by friends, family and HMRC as Barry Dolan, will hit the Stag & Hounds stage on Sunday night before Brighton’s emo punk duo Phaedra’s Love close off the festival. For a look-in at participating restaurants, tickets (day passes and weekend passes available), and the full line-up head over to the Booze Cruise Festival’s website, or find them on your favourite friendly social network for more info.
