14th September | Crofters Rights
Seventies-inspired rock quartet Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard cross the bridge from Wales on Saturday night to grace the stage of Crofters Rights, and it’s guaranteed to get you grooving.
Represented by Cardiff-born record label, Bubblewrap Collective, Buzzard initially started as a personal project of lead singer Tom Rees. The now four-piece band have come a long way from Rees’ bedroom in the last three years.
With a trio of wonderfully boppable singles under their belt, including ‘Double Denim Hop’ and their latest release ‘Love Forever’, Buzzard’s songs explore current social issues with a glam rock finesse that Bowie would’ve been proud of.
Taking inspiration from the likes of Cream, John Lennon and T. Rex, the band are on their way to creating a new kind of modern 70s sound that the current indie music scene has most definitely been lacking. Having already toured with Our Girl last year and shared many a stage (and vinyl) with fellow Cardiff dwellers, Boy Azooga, it’s fair to say the band have been picking up their musical tips in all the right places.
With an already adoring fanbase, even pre-festival season, it’s unlikely that these guys will be playing such intimate rooms for much longer. Catch them on your home turf before Cardiff’s best kept secret is out!
