Aussie trio DMA’S continue to revitalise Britpop with the release of their second album For Now, an unmistakably indie collection of rough-and-ready guitar tunes. Although they hail from the other side of the world, their music oozes timeless British charm and is quickly growing a dedicated fanbase here. Having already caught the attention of the Gallagher brothers, supporting Liam at Finsbury Park (who labelled them ‘biblical’) and gaining Noel’s approval, the band are returning to The Anson Rooms with their second sold-out UK tour of the year, with support from singer songwriter Rosborough, a rising star in Ireland.
Drawing on classic influences such as The Stone Roses and The Cure, first album Hills End was an immediate smash, with acoustic ballad ‘Delete’ becoming a firm fan-favourite. Though they keep things mainly mellow, the trio know how to amp things up a little, ‘Too Soon’ being a great example of their edgier rock and roll style. For Now furthers their success, this time with a slightly more psychedelic vibe, with ‘The End’ providing a serious Pet Shop Boys throwback.
If you’re a fan of classic, authentic indie, you’re in for a treat at The Anson Rooms for sure.
