Bristol’s Duncan Stagg provides the kind of music that you’d turn to on a rainy day — and therein lies its charm. His latest EP kindly offers an almost Elliott Smith-like set of forlorn ballads. There are more upbeat moments, perhaps the best example being the lively ‘Joe’, with it’s dancing banjo and snare.
When you’re dealing with this brand of Americana, it is in truth tricky to break the mould, with this EP far from doing so. But if you’re into the sound and are looking for something new to sip your latte to — then Duncan is certainly your guy.
