Farmfest, Somerset’s small but perfectly formed boutique festival, has announced its first wave of acts for 2020. Following last year’s successful return from a one-year hiatus, Farmfest again looks likely to punch above its weight. As well as boasting the surroundings of Bruton’s sumptuous countryside, it is still proudly, independently sponsor-free and remains capped at 5000 people to ensure its intimate atmosphere. Affordability is also a big draw, with weekend tickets currently just £85.
You can’t have a great local festival without some great local bands, so you can look forward to an appearance from a band from the very top rank of Bristol’s canon, BEAK>, as well as more recently formed acts, such as the dream pop of Pocket Sun, the jazz blast of Run Logan Run, the earthy grunge of Wych Elm, or the Latin-infused soul of Laimu.
National and international big-hitters include the dance punk of New York’s !!! (CHK CHK CHK), the enigma that is Baxter Dury, Switzerland’s Sophie Hunger who combines English, German and French into her electro-folk stylings. Add to that Gengahr, Talk Show, LIINES, Just Mustard, YOWL and Billy Nomates and you haven’t even heard the half of it.
Dust of your tent. Check the state of your flip-flops and your wellies.
