A notable cornerstone of the Warp empire, Flying Lotus has become one of our generation’s most laudable music producers. Enigmatic, but also incredibly versatile: FlyLo has produced four studio albums to date, remixed a wide selection of contemporary artists, and produced a mixtape under rap alias Captain Murphy.
His 2010 album ‘Cosmogramma’ – which featured guest spots from Thom Yorke and Laura Darlington – broadened his scope of genre experimentation, incorportating eclectic spasms of jazz, hip hop, and left-field instrumentation to create something quite otherworldly. The same applies to his dream-laden psych-jazz album, ‘Until the Quiet Comes’, released in 2012.
Support on the night comes in the form of Thundercat – who FlyLo has previously collaborated with on the above releases – and a special set from Captain Murphy, all taking place in the glorious surroundings of Colston Hall – familiar to those who attended Crack Magazine’s alt-electronica extravaganza, Simple Things Festival last year.
This is not one to miss, so mark the date; June, 6th.
