2019 saw Football FC very much insistently elbow and endearingly bellow their way into people’s consciousness. Word of mouth is usually far more reliable than media hype, and when quite a few, “Have you heard…?” questions were being finished with their name, you knew that there must be some sense in the whispers. Seeing them live again will have to wait a while (Fantasy Football FC for now) but we caught up with Tom Simpkins to see where the band is at during lockdown.

“In terms of what we were doing before this lockdown, we were in the middle of writing a new EP and we’re scheduled to be in the studio toward the end of April. Obviously things have had to be pushed back with that, but as soon as we can we’ll be back on it and back out playing shows

“Quarantine means lots of writing time so that’s what we’re all up to in our separation. A few jams have taken place over FaceTime, but it’s not really FFC without everything being too loud and us ruining everybody’s night.”
