Plenty of formidable sounds have emanated from Northern Ireland. Breakfast Records’ Frank & Beans are no exception to this. The duo took to the stage at The Crofters Rights with an embrace and smiled while they prepared themselves to give a fantastic performance.
Almost every song began with the looped reverb of Milo Dunn-Clarke’s guitar. It felt like a delicate ritual of preparation before the next punk onslaught, driven by Timmy Burns’ thunder drums. They sounded like a punk-upgraded LCD Soundsystem, which we all need, even if we haven’t actually got as far as realising that life fact yet. One person who was wise to this phenomenon already was Big Jeff.
