1st December | Anson Rooms

2018 has seen the return of bands who stormed the noughties, who then resided with a hiatus. One of these bands, who have revived both club and indie culture with their presence is Friendly Fires. The St Albans outfit burst into 2008 with their self-titled debut. Since then, the ‘Skeleton Boy’ masterminds have prevailed in producing pop bangers that infuse a labyrinth of genres, highlighted by soaring harmonies.

In an event brought to us by In:Motion, this club tour sees DJ sets from Alex Metric & Ten Ven, Paranoid London, plus a special guest to be announced. This line-up exquisitely welcomes the feel of a festival, with the chance to lose inhibitions to some tech-house with the pinnacle being a band who possess the power of a full carnival. Being held in UoB’s Students’ Union, The Anson Rooms will transform into a space ready for Friendly Fires’ euphoric catalogue along with their funk-infused newer material.

Back in April, the band rebirthed in Brixton Academy, where they have also headlined stages such as Truck and Festival No. 6. To have Friendly Fires grace Bristol is truly a treat and this venue is truly intimate for this arena-worthy band. You can prepare for dazzling hip-shaking from Ed MacFarlane himself, with added maracas and glitter into the early hours.
