From the off, there has always been something wholesomely sentimental about FUR. A quartet from Brighton, their yearning, effervescent pop songs evoke a real sense of romantic timelessness, whether in their whimsical turn of phrase or highly melodic songwriting. It’s quickly garnered them international adoration; ardent fans from as far as Indonesia are falling quickly for¬†Murray, Zwaig, Tav and Flynn.

It’s led to the release of their highly-anticipated self-titled first EP – which is quite suitably being released on Valentine’s of all days – a collection of charming songs that embraces their penchant for escapism, while being rooted deep in the¬†hopeless romanticism of the modern day. To celebrate its release, the group are heading around the UK this week, stopping off in Bristol for their biggest show in the city yet at Rough Trade.

Whether the band are longing for a relationship that sadly would never be in ‘Angel Eyes’, or traversing the ups and downs of love in ‘You & Me’, the band have this canny ability to place you in the centre of it, empathising as succinctly in their lyrics as you will with the emotions in their spritely, playful musicianship. Be prepared to swoon.
