22nd February | Hy-Brasil
Holiday Ghosts are one of those bands whose music you can’t help but have stuck in your head. Whether it’s in the infectious rock n roll rumble of ‘Quiet Carriage’ or the more vulnerable anxieties that lie within ‘Staring At The Moon’, the four-piece have proven they have a way with melody.
The band, originally the project of duo Sam Stacpoole and Katja Rackin, are joined by the highly melodic bass playing of Ry Cleave (The Red Cords) and the ramshackle rhythm of Charlie Fairbairn (William Weak). The true brilliance they have together shines live.
Following their well-attended set in support of Tonstartssbandht in Bristol back in October, the group now return to rightfully headline Hy-Brasil, for the absolute gift of a free show, promoted by 1% of One.
Support comes in the form of Bristol punks, Gork, whose first EP is a speedball of punk meets power pop. It’s pretty innocuous and it’s all the better for it. Playing live, you can expect something riotously fun and unrestricted from them.
Never ones to dwell, expect Holiday Ghosts to test some new songs live that, before you know it, will be as stuck in your head as your particular favourites are right now.
