27th May | Rough Trade
First Glasgow’s Honeyblood were a duo, then a solo venture for singer, guitarist and songwriter Stina Tweeddale following the departure of drummer Cat Myers, and now they’re touring with a new live band. In the middle of the No Drama tour, Tweeddale is playing a solo in-store tour, performing at Rough Trade on 27th May, following the release of upcoming third album, In Plain Sight on 24th May. She will also be signing copies of the album after the show.
Having seen Stina and Cat play together numerous times since 2014, including Cat’s second-ever gig as part of Honeyblood at The Louisiana after original drummer Shona McVicar left the band, I was disappointed that they wouldn’t be performing together again as they had excellent rapport on stage and there was always a real sense of fun at their gigs. With that in mind, I’ll be curious to see how the new line-up of Stina and her new touring band will compare in future.
Second single from In Plain Sight, ‘She’s A Nightmare’ has fast become one of my favourites. The first single, ‘The Third Degree’ was such a departure from Honeyblood’s previous sounds that it took time to get used to, but I’m excited to hear and see more how Stina has developed as a solo artist and how the new and old material alike comes across live.
