In the latest of their rather rapidly accumulating accolades, IDLES have been nominated for a Mercury Prize.

Announced today, the prestigious awards see IDLES’ Joy as an Act of Resistance selected as one of the 12 albums shortlisted for the prize. This year’s selection also includes Dave, Slowthai, Little Simz, and Fontaines D.C. and more (see the full nominations here). On this year’s shortlist, the judges said,  “This year’s Hyundai Mercury Prize celebrates both the striking diversity of British and Irish music-makers and their shared purpose in exploring issues of identity and belonging at a time of division and disagreement. And all this is done with music of passion, wit, insight, ambition and heart-stirring optimism!”.

The Awards Show takes place on 19th September at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith.

IDLES also recently released a new video for ‘Never Fight a Man With Perm’, check it out below.
