Jack Cookson ‘Revolt & Resolve’ | Album Review

Having received some acclaim for his ‘Weighing Anchor’ and ‘Five Times’ EPs, Bristol via Plymouth-based folk musician Jack Cookson is back with his eight-track debut album, ‘Revolt & Resolve’.

The record opens with the soft sounds of ‘Nebraska’, a harmonic track that bears resemblance to the likes of Frank Turner and Andy Ruddy. Roots-based collaborations with Vicky Butterfield and Calvin Thomas bring more upbeat, foot-tapping feel to the album, while its title track takes the form of heartfelt country number. Jack Cookson is definitely one to watch in 2015.
