Jim Johnston ‘After All The Wishing’ | Album Review

It’s an understatement to say musical heritage means a lot in this city. Jim Johnston is a man who helped shape the glimmering trip-hop sounds of old while fronting Monk & Canatella — now though, comes his own brand new solo album.

Brace yourself for the weird and wonderful, as the record brings fresh ideas coupled with a sense of nostalgia. It’s clear Johnston remains forward thinking and colourful — but saying that, this album tackles the unsavoury subject matter of confusion and paranoia, leading to a somewhat dark, tortured sound. Worth your full attention, simply out of its misfit nature.
