What introduction could possibly befit punk poet extraordinaire John Cooper Clarke? From his instantly distinctive haircut to his acerbic witticisms documenting the trivialities of daily life, he is a man whose poetry has influenced the very landscape of British culture.

You don’t have to look far to see the extent to which John Cooper Clarke’s influence reaches. He has not only played on the same bill as legendary bands such as the Sex Pistols and Joy Division, but has also inspired others – notably the Arctic Monkeys – who not only printed his poem ‘Out of Control Fairground’ inside the single sleeve for ‘Fluorescent Adolescent’, but also put his poem ‘I Wanna Be Yours’ to music on their latest album AM.
