It’s felt like a long time coming but the wait is almost over, and everyone’s favourite kaleidoscopic, high-octane trio are finally gracing Bristol with their presence. Given the excitement and anticipation surrounding Kero Kero Bonito, along with the promise of their new album, Time n’ Place, coming soon, the show sold out rather rapidly (and tickets for their return early next year are already shifting swiftly). So you get the idea – this is a band you don’t want to miss out on.
2016’s Bonito Generation earned them resounding acclaim, fully establishing KKB as a buoyant force of nature and furthering their reputation for purveying high-energy, candy-coated electro-pop that they introduced the world to with the debut mixtape, Intro Bonito.
Having been pretty quiet since Bonito Generation, earlier this year, single ‘Only Acting’ surfaced, introducing a darker, distorted side to their sound. The subsequent series of singles and TOTEP EP has been offering up tasters of the different sonic directions the London trio are exploring, defying expectation with effervescent dexterity. And all this will undoubtedly be a lot of fun to witness live and in close proximity at Rough Trade on Wednesday.
