Lionface ‘Girl’ | Single Review

Ah, the triumphant return of Lionface. More esoteric get-up, more flawlessly executed melodies and bigger, more world-crushing beats.

‘Girl’ opens with trademark distorted synths, before a breakbeat leads the way in. An out-of-nowhere chorus shows that Kat and her collaborators’ songwriting prowess has too brought with it a hefty amount of confidence. And, come the meltdown instrumental, it’s clear that the new drummer is worth his weight in gold.

This release marks the third wave in a blinding trilogy from Lionface. Serving as a reminder that pop can be dark, unapologetic and filthy, she maintains her no-bullsh*t approach while remaining effortlessly bewitching.
