Machine Head | Preview

The very idea of Machine Head not having crossed any metal fan’s radar by now is utterly ludicrous. These four groove/thrash metal lunatics are winners of multiple “Best Live Act” awards over the years, and have been flawless during every one of the six or seven performances I’ve seen by them. Quite frankly, I’m not sure they actually know how to put on a bad show. If you can still get tickets for this show, do it quickly. Frontman Robb Flynn has stated that Machine Head will not be appearing at any festivals over the summer, so this could be your last chance to see them for quite a while.

The Grammy nominated Bay Area titans will be appearing at the Academy on the 10th, off the back of their blinding new album, ‘Bloodstone and Diamonds’. Slightly more thrash-oriented than their previous two records, it’s sure to cause total mayhem in the mosh pit. Despite being far too old for such shenanigans, I may not be able to resist charging in and going completely apeshit myself. I’ve often thought that partying is exercise for the soul, and a hangover is just the mental and spiritual equivalent of post-workout muscle ache. I’m sure to have both the morning after this behemoth of a show.
