26th April | Rise
Record Store Day returns once more, and to celebrate Bristol’s favourite vinyl store Rise are hosting a series of in-stores events to showcase talented artists old and new. Having already featured the sassiest girl band on the block The Big Moon earlier this month, the baton will be handed to indie-rockers Maximo Park on the 26th April to continue the festivities.
Promoting their forthcoming album Risk To Exist, the band’s eighth offering carries a deeper message than the Geordie lads’ trademark punchy pop-rock. Inspired by a newspaper article about the work of MOAS and the Foreign Office’s decision to stop their search and rescue operations for refugees in the Mediterranean, title track ‘Risk To Exist’ has been described by vocalist Paul Smith as a “rallying call” to help people in danger. With profits from its sale helping towards the cause, every little helps for those who are in need of it.
Showcasing songs from their new album as well as tripped back classics that we all know and love, it’ll be a special Wednesday night to celebrate one of indie music’s most treasured bands.
