22nd September | Crofters Rights
If you haven’t heard of No Violet, you must be living under a rock. The four-piece fuzz-rockers have been dominating the alt-rock scene recently; their name is plastered on most festival line-ups and music sites, as well as having a pretty cool shout-out in the Metro. I last saw these guys well over a year ago, just before their single, ‘America’ was released. I can’t be the only one who’s super-stoked to see how much their live set has progressed, along with hearing some new songs.
Their debut EP, Faces is a four-track, atmospheric grunge masterpiece, with mighty math-rock elements and menacing riffs, topped off with singer, Ellie Godwin’s impressive vocal range. She varies from a gutsy Alanis Morissette shriek to woozy crooning; seriously listen to ‘She Goes Her Own Way’ and you’ll know exactly what I mean. Embellished with heavy grunge guitars and monstrous drum sounds, be sure to bring your earplugs for this one!
They’ve got a few dates lined up, which will all be topped off with a homecoming gig on 22nd September at Crofters Rights. Faces is out on Leisure Records right now. Be sure to grab a ticket for their Bristol show. Support will be coming from math-rockers Chiyoda Ku.
