Born under the second wave of the Elephant Six collective, Of Montreal write quote-unquote indie pop, which is probably true in theory. Yet, to suggest their prolific twelve album discography fits neatly into this simple umbrella terminology is a gross oversight of the bigger picture. of Montreal fuse countless genres into their work, from R&B to the avant-garde, with a dash of vaudevillian theatricality for good measure. No two albums sound the same, but they all characteristically meld to the band’s signature sound.

February sees the band hitting the UK — including a date at Bristol’s Fleece on the 17th — in support of their latest album, ‘Lousy With Sylvianbriar’. At this point, it’s anybody’s guess what wonderment will unfold at these live shows, but needless to say, it’s going to be fun finding out.
