It’s been over eighteen months since I last saw this young singer-songwriter, born and raised in the Southwest. At that time she was touring her ‘Home’ EP and was mainly still known for her YouTube covers of Katy Perry and You Me At Six.
In the time ensuing she has risen to a more wider national attention. This has been aided to her cover of Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s ‘Power of Love’ last Christmas being used in a major UK advert campaign. Gabrielle’s haunting version has gained her more and more fans, who then went on to buy her debut album, ‘English Rain’, released in May this year – reaching number two in the UK album chart.
She is now embarking on her seventh (and arguably biggest) UK headline tour and comes to Bristol’s o2 Academy this November – it will be interesting to see how her intimate performances transfer to a larger venue.
