You might think that a band who have titled their debut album The Goat could be a little full of themselves or a little deluded. However, this exact joker attitude is just one of the reasons why Puppy are becoming increasingly loved.

Having proven to be infectiously funny, Jock Norton, Billy Howard and Will Michael’s light-hearted attitudes don’t distract from towering riffs which nail them firmly to the contemporary metal scene. The debut itself is a work which caresses the line between pop and thrash-intensive compositions, whilst prevailing with originality. With catchy melodies aplenty, the beauty of The Goat is how Puppy have managed to address the strife of inner struggles in an inventive way. They’ve toured with the likes of Creeper, CKY and Turbowolf whilst hitting up pretty much all of the major festivals.

A staggeringly brilliant addition to the line-up comes in the form of the fellow London-based quintet, GREEN LUNG. Signed to Kozmik Artifactz, the outfit have recently released LP Woodland Rites, which laces in old school metal-laden chugging with spearing vocals.

In an event brought to us by Effigy, this gig at Exchange is an ideal time to grab an intimate set before the festival season. The greatest of all time or not, Puppy are a band to jump on board with.
