Rauschenberg ‘Self-titled’ | Album Review

Depending on your inclination, Rauschenberg’s debut LP could either be a wonderful throwback to the glory days of alternative rock or a stone best left unturned. The album draws motorik post-punk, psychedelic noise rock and muddy shoegaze vibes from the band’s predecessors and processes the best parts into a full-length trip. Think Spacemen 3, MC5, Ride or the New FADs. It’s even possible to catch the fleeting glimmer of Britpop hiding beneath the murky reverberations on tracks like ‘Ohio Wires’. Maybe it’s not for everyone, but it does the job of standing out amidst a veritable history of rock and roll.
