Record Store Day takes place on April 18th, the day on which we focus especially on the thing that we (hopefully) do on a daily and weekly basis – celebrate the cultural and community relevance of our record shops. Look out for all the opportunities and events that will be announced over the coming weeks.

In conjunction with Record Store Day, the RSD Unsigned competition returns for its third year, giving one unsigned artist the opportunity to get their music pressed onto 500 vinyl records for free. Let’s claim the win for Bristol in 2020.

Previous winners, Barbudo and Heavy Rapids, have gone onto receive great radio support, high-profile support slots, secure slots at festivals and even headline their own tours.

2020’s winning artist will be chosen by RSD’s judges, including:

Sam Ford – Editor of So Young Magazine.

Chris Marksberry – Managing Director of Sound Performance, a vinyl manufacturing company for over 25 years.

Ashli Todd – Owner of Spillers Records, established in 1894 and is recognised as the oldest record shop in the world.

The is now open and will close on the 16th March.

Head to to submit your entry. Over to you!
