Gouranga: Nature’s knife
Released: 28th June
Stoner. Desert rock. Grunge. Alternative metal. You may call Gouranga many things, but whatever they are – they’re awesome.
Perhaps sounding less like the former and more like the latter than ever before, there are definite Tool vibes on this new offering, which is never a bad thing.
Despite being a heavier record, they manage to retain their quiet-loud song writing skills to the max. And that’s exactly it – Songwriting. There’s plenty of structure and melody to be had here, making big bits huge, and the anger very well placed indeed. Gouranga for us are grunge, and then some.
