Sol Trax ‘Sun Trax’ | EP Review

As an artist, you have two choices when it comes to a debut; ease your listeners in gently, or start as you mean to go on. Sol Trax’s freshman release ‘Sun Tracks’ undoubtedly falls into the latter.

Channelling the sonic ethos of the painfully contemporary Tri- Angle records, the EP is full of discordant swells, scattered drum patterns and skittish repetitions.

There are beautifully emotive moments coerced through tape saturation, but the tone is insular and restrained. The off-kilter, excitable nature shows a true attention to detail, without appearing over-laboured. The work of an artist who has a clear chaotic vision.
