25th September | Thekla

Having formed in 2012, indie quartet, Spring King have progressed an awful lot. From what was initially a solo project, the collective have propelled themselves ever-higher, into the position of becoming a hugely cherished band with their charming rock-pop.

With their second full-length album, A Better Life freshly released, the four-piece have stuck to their guitar-driven material, with the noticeable addition of psych tendencies. Whereas their debut album, Tell Me If You Like To, was almost solely produced by band member Tarek Musa, their sound has certainly strengthened through the collaboration of all members.

On the surface, they produce pleasurable classic indie-rock tunes that are easily accessible, however, when you delve deeper into the lyricism, they have experimented with challenging narratives. The album is persistent in strength, fun and ambition; the Manchester outfit are onto big things.

After having played a few in-store shows, which appear to have been hugely popular, Spring King will be playing Thekla on the 25th. Accompanied by Zebrafi and Ed The Dog, the night is set to be an all-out indie party, where you can appreciate the new-and-improved huge sound of a band who have seemingly found their feet.
