Brooklyn based, Talib Kweli, is one of the prolific and influential political activists, lyricist and hip hop artists, and social commentator whose brand of music is meant to inspire and provoke the listener as much as it’s meant to make their head nod.

His early albums, Eardrum and The Beautiful Struggle, are iconic in the hip-hop canon, as well as his collaboration with Mos Def, Black Star. In 2015, his surprise release, ‘F*** the Money’  dropped just one month after a rarities album titled, Train of Thought: Lost Lyrics, Rare Releases & Beautiful B-Sides Vol. 1, and was another display in his ability to react to social, musical and political changes.

Most recent released mixtape, Awful People are Great at Parties, which is more of a collection of previously released tracks, features songs produced by Hi Tek and J Dilla with guest appearances from artists like Aloe Blacc and focuses on frustration with the current cultural climate of the US and greater world.

Now, more than ever, Kweli’s style of organic beats and conscious and literate lyrics resonate in a world drifting further and further into turbulence and volatility.
