It can be said that simplicity does not necessarily denote a lack of substance; Tamu Massif understands this all too well.
His soothing vocal style, akin to that of geometrical pop prince Alt -J, shines through on second single, ‘A Fate Much Worse’, thanks, in no small part, to the light, considered production it sits above. Gentle guitars and the odd harmony track provide a drowsy foundation that glitchy flecks of melody and muffled, 80s tom/snare combos perforate with just enough persistence to keep you from slipping under, and have just enough moxie to suggest a boogie.
Simple, yet wholly effective.
