You couldn’t hope for a better debut than this…
Temples Festival has utterly exploded onto the scene — and very nearly sold out, well in advance of the event. With weekend tickets already gone, your best hope is a day ticket, but frankly we’d turn a blind eye to you selling a kidney if you’re not already sorted.*
The festival itself boasts a magnificent lineup, featuring a huge range within the heavy metal spectrum over three full days. If you name a sub-genre of metal, it’s probably covered. If there’s any particular leaning however, it seems to be towards doom and sludge, which is often a woefully under-represented area. This can be illustrated by the stunning headliners; Electric Wizard, Neurosis, and Clutch.
It isn’t all about the headline acts, of course. There are over forty additional bands and, while we can’t list them all here (see official website), we can certainly pick out a few choice highlights. Bristol’s own Gonga are an obvious choice, as are Brutal Truth, the US grindcore veterans who will be making Temples their last ever UK show before retiring the band. Other unmissable acts include A Storm of Light, Jucifer, and Winterfylleth.
This beast of an event kicks off on Friday 2nd of May and runs through to very late Sunday night, including the after party. We’ll have the bank holiday to recover and, bloody hell, we’re going to need it.
*Disclaimer – Bristol Live Magazine does not, under any circumstances, condone selling your body parts for gig/festival tickets.
UPDATE: Due to unprecedented public demand, Temples will be releasing a limited number of Weekend Tickets on Monday 31st of March at 2pm (GMT).
