Anyone subscribing to the guitar band psych revival is likely to have heard of Temples. Since forming in 2012 and being snapped up by Heavenly Recordings, this Kettering quartet fronted by willowy singer and guitarist James Bagshaw – you’ll recognise him by his Marc Bolan barnet – have enjoyed quite the rise.
They’ve not only supported Kasabian, Suede and the Mystery Jets, among others, but have received a fair bit of press attention and been championed by the likes of Johnny Marr and Noely G – who suggests watching their “cosmic space music” in an empty Death Star for ultimate effect.
Alongside their new tour dates, the band recently announced a ‘re-animation’ of their acclaimed debut album, ‘Sun Structures’ (released February this year) by Beyond the Wizards Sleeve (Erol Alkan & Richard Norris), with completely reworked tracks from the original album – so who knows what kind of trip is in store for the autumn tour.
Catch Temples on the first of their UK dates at Trinity on 29 November. ‘Sun Restructured’ is released on Heavenly Recordings on 10 November 2014.
