The latest offering from The Minke Whales is a bittersweet affair, taking you through the humdrum reality of life by way of tender Scottish vocals.
The fluent, folky rhythm suggests the release to be a continuation of their last EP, but it’s clear from the start that this is something even more special. The gentle brass beginnings of ‘Boulder In My Hand’ set a sombre tone, then their spicy wording arrives – “we polished off the beer, the whisky then the wine”.
I can’t help feeling that this release is a step up, endearing, slick and brimming with exciting sections.
