27th January | SWX2

Saturday night will see The Night Café grace the stage at SWX2 to a sold-out audience. In fact, expectations of this band are rising fast with only two dates on their thirteen-date UK tour having any tickets remaining. Already they’ve supported Sundara Karma and Jade Bird, and are soon to tour with the Wombats. This is clearly a band on the rise.

The four-piece from Liverpool play a mash of indie-rock-pop with twinkling guitars and clashing rhythmics. Their sound matches their down-to-earth look, made that bit more distinct with a tinge of Scouse pronunciation. The youthful quartet will have you head-bopping and knee-twitching within a few bars.

Hartlepool’s finest, PLAZA are one of their supports. With darker vocals but comparably catchy guitar riffs, they are a heavier band that will no doubt energise the crowd.

Paris Youth Foundation (disclaimer – not from Paris) complete the bill. Another Liverpool band, they’ve had a run of singles over the last two years that have brought critics fully on board. Their latest single, ‘London’ provides a chirpier version of The Night Café’s indie-rock, with anthemic potential.

Excitingly, the night looks set to blaze a trail for the next generation of British indie-pop big-hitters.
