For most people, a drunken karaoke performance of The Kooks ‘Seaside’ with your mates when you’re eighteen wouldn’t lead to a UK tour and a debut album by the time you’re twenty-three. But that’s Tom Grennan’s reality. The Bedford-born singer-songwriter’s road to success began in 2016 when he managed to secure a feature on Chase and Status’ ‘All Gone Wrong’. From then on, Grennan has continued to make his mark – releasing a couple of EPs, Something in the Water and Found What I’ve Been Looking For, performing at festivals such as Reading and Boardmasters, and achieving a place on the BBC’s Sound of 2017 longlist.
But 2018 has been the pivotal year for Tom Grennan, with the release of his debut album Lighting Matches in July and his UK headline tour, which starts this week. His Bristol show at the O2 Academy on Sunday is sold out, so if you haven’t already got a ticket, you’ve missed out. Grennan’s previous performances in Bristol have been at smaller venues such as Thekla and SWX, so it is evident that his hard work over the last few years is certainly paying off.
Without a doubt, Tom Grennan’s laddish charm combined with his raspy and soulful vocals will guarantee a performance that is energetic, raw and the perfect way to end your week.
