Bristol’s Young Echo collective have announced the launch of their own record label, also naming their first release in the form of a 12″ single from rapper Rider Shafique.

The record will feature two songs, the first of which is ‘I-Dentity’ (which you can listen to below). Both songs were written for and performed in schools across the UK. They aim to deal with “with issues of race, class and the ridiculousness an individual of colour has to confront during daily life, with the stigmas attached to pre-conceptions and obstacles applied to people coined as ‘ethnic minority’.”

The next release will be a two disk collection of the Young Echo work and is expected to surface sometime next year. You’ll be able to purchase Rider Shafique’s single from the 5th November on vinyl and on 11th November.
