Issue #90 | July 2019

Read the July issue with IDER, BABii, Emily Isherwood, albums, listings and more.

July is here, bringing with it peak festival season. On our doorstep alone this month we have NASS, Pride, Barn on the Farm, Farmfest and Astral Festival. But did you know, there’s still a metric ton of great music coming out?

Gracing our cover this month are a long-time personal fave of mine, IDER. These self-proclaimed sisters make eclectic, decidedly-British and just bloody excellent pop music. We hear all about it on the cusp of their debut, Emotional Education.

Next up, we chat with Bristol’s own Emily Isherwood – previously of Nugget fame – whose rather vibe-y EP is out this month. It holds a brilliance that transcends the folk label and somehow makes you happy to be sad.

Elsewhere we welcome the vintage-tinged and painfully-cool Cuco, whose music is a chilled-out “soup” that bubbles up from a manic life. Finally, chats with the relentlessly-creative BABii show us it’s possible to marry the innocent with the sinister – if you have next-level production and songwriting skills such as hers.

All this, plus listings for Bristol’s favourite venues, a full album round-up, events, guests and more!
