HAAi

Welcome to August: summer’s last hurrah. With so much excellent new music out this month, much of it perfect for lazy park days and warm, boozy school nights, let’s make it count.

On the cusp of her new EP, exemplary psych and techno aficionado, HAAi, hops onto our cover. Fresh from closing the final Beat Hotel at Glastonbury, we chat everything from the relentless amount of blistering sets she’s played so far this year, to her favourite house plants.

Bedroom indie troubadour, Jay Som, is a personal favourite of mine, so I’m naturally more than stoked to have her in his month. She explains how the use of her own sacred space, along with some careful inner work, have helped to create an album that feels “more like [her]” than ever before.

Elsewhere, ((( O ))) discusses the Filipino identity and how to break away from the pack, while the sorely-missed Shura details making the kind of music she never thought she would. I guess that’s what happens when you suddenly fall in love.

All this, plus full Bristol venue listings, this month’s most exciting releases, new acts on the radar, guests and more.
