Electro-indie pioneers, Bombay Bicycle Club were last seen bidding a fitting farewell from the music landscape back in 2014 with their fourth album, So Long, See You Tomorrow. It still rings true as their most experimental record but also their most successful one. It was the London rock outfit’s first album to reach number one in the UK Albums Chart. Now they have re-emerged for one of the most exciting comebacks of the decade.
The second single, ‘Everything Else Has Gone Wrong’ is the perfect pessimistic summary of the world since they have been gone. While it would be nice to say it isn’t all doom and gloom, the name of the single is also the name of the upcoming fifth effort from the group. From what we’ve heard so far, however, this doesn’t signal a more downbeat affair. Celebrating the melancholy has always been their strong point.
Allow yourself to jubilantly sway or spin along to the sad swagger of ‘I Can Hardly Speak’ and sing out the enchanting crescendo of ‘Racing Stripes’. As this is the first show of their UK tour, anticipate a colourful burst of new material from the upcoming album. Dare to dance, expect to sing and don’t miss the chance to welcome yourself to the new era of Bombay Bicycle Club at SWX, hosted by Rough Trade.
