Another week that’s made us want to wash our hands of it all. Can we not take 2020 back for a refund or something? I think this year’s broken.

At least the gig choice is still falling in our favour…

Thursday 12th

Young Echo – Exchange Basement (Note – This show has been postponed)

Sometimes, often, from the corner of your eye, you may have found yourself catching glimpse of the name Young Echo. After a few such times, it’ll probably stick in your mind and pique your curiosity. The enigmatic, twelve-strong Bristol-based music collective await curious minds and future fans at their first show of the year. More here…

Saturday 14th

Tungz (credit: Dominika Scheibinger)

Tungz – Rough Trade

We’re totally Tungz-tied about this one at In Stereo as the bedroom pop quartet bring their funk-styled sounds from the Okay EP out to the Rough Trade room. Surely, their music is a breath of fresh air in an otherwise wonky world. More here…

Sunday 15th

Sløtface

Sløtface – The Louisiana (Note – This show has been postponed)

Nine times out of ten, someone’s pronouncing these Norwegian indie-punks’ band name wrong. (At least, that was me for a mortifying month. Still, no one likes the person that has to obnoxiously correct everything.) Anyway, they’re back in Bristol on the toes of Sorry For The Late Reply, and you bet it’s going to be another sweaty Sunday night at The Louisiana. More here…

Monday 16th

World Brain – The Lanes

I can’t pinpoint exactly when The Lanes started having some of the best shows in Bristol, at least those that appeal to a niche, but I’m all for it. This Monday, promoters Lysergic Limes and BLG are bringing another unique musical oddity to the attention of Bristol’s intrepid gig-goers; Berlin’s World Brain.

And did someone say free entry? You’re damn right they did. What are you waiting for? Besides the passage of time. More here…

Tuesday 17th

Jay Som (credit: Lindsey Byrnes)

Jay Som – Fleece (Note – This show has been postponed)

A long-awaited Bristol show after cancelled November dates last year. Jay Som is the perfect antidote to early week blues and a balm for the current climate. Catchy, playful jams that lift the spirits but don’t overwhelm. More here…

Wednesday 18th

Brooke Bentham – The Crofters Rights

Heard it through the grapevine that Brooke Bentham is the new hot ticket for fans of singer-songwriters, or at least, people are enjoying what’s out there since the release of her debut album Everyday Nothing. I’ll let you fine readers be the judge of that though rather than fuelling the hype machine, but certainly her show at The Crofters Rights this Wednesday is worth a look-in. More here…
