Idles have been going from strength to strength since the breakthrough of Joy as an Act of Resistance, and now they’ve, very deservedly, won Best Album at the Ivor Novello Awards for the record.
An album the judges praised as “so visceral it is impossible to ignore”, it’s undeniably heartening to see the band receive well-earned acclaim for their music. The Ivors also saw Mariah Carey awarded PRS for Music Special International Award, a double win for The 1975, and Wiley presented with The Ivors Inspiration Award.
Idles recently dropped into NPR for a Tiny Desk Concert, which is very much something to look forward to when it comes out. In the meantime, you can listen to their latest track ‘Mercedes Marxist’ below.
The band has also been nominated for Best British Breakthrough Act at the Kerrang! Awards, and you can vote for them here.
