Ålesund have a knack for filling cavernous spaces with resplendently huge noise. So how are they doing in the small world of our current locked-down lives? We caught up with Alba Torriset to find out:

“Lockdown hasn’t been too bad so far! I’ve written a new track and demo-ed it up to send to the rest of the band to put their parts on, so I’m trying to stay productive and use my time wisely. But I’ve also been enjoying reading without feeling guilty that I should be doing other things – which is a nice feeling! I have a big stack of books ready and waiting for the weeks that lie ahead.

“We were mid-tour when all this madness hit. We managed to do all our UK and Netherlands dates, but had to turn back before we reached Germany. We are looking forward to re-booking the tour when all this is over. We are still releasing the EP in the coming weeks, though and hoping it will give some distraction to everything else that’s going on in the world!

“Our latest single, ‘Splinters’ is out on Friday April 3rd, and will be available on all platforms. It’s dedicated to the Bristol musical community. I was musing on how I see everyone working so hard, pouring their hearts and souls into their creative projects and spinning all the plates to try and make it work. It can sometimes drain you and leave you feeling disillusioned, however it’s a positive track about taking care of yourself and not wearing yourself too thin.

“If we’re able to go back to any kind of normality, we did have a load of festival dates booked in, but we’ll just have to see! If not, 2020 will be the year we managed to write and record a new EP remotely, I reckon…”
